Located near the heart of downtown San Angelo and overlooking the beautiful Concho River, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts has three spacious galleries two with dramatic 40-foot ceilings and there is also a large rooftop sculpture terrace with a beautiful view of the city. We have a gift shop with unique items and works of art created by regional artists and craftspeople.

Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 10 am - 4 pm
              Sunday 1 pm - 4 pm

Fort Concho National Historic Landmark

Established in 1867, along the banks of the Concho River, Fort Concho was built to protect frontier settlements, patrol and map the vast West Texas region, and quell hostile threats in the area. The old frontier army post is now a historic preservation project and museum which is owned and operated by the City of San Angelo, Texas.

John Hemphill, local photographer, has had an abiding interest in San Angelo's International Waterlily Garden for years. He has made four different shoots of the garden, capturing the special qualities of light available at sunrise, sunset and late on a cloudy afternoon. Other images from his travels in this country and others will also be on exhibit. He has studied photography at the Southwest School of Art in San Antonio as well as more focused courses at the Santa Fe Photographers Workshops.

The Historic Orient-Santa Fe Depot built and opened by the Kansas City, Mexico, and Orient Railway of Texas in 1910. Stop by and see what a real working railway looked like in the height of it's day and learn about its history along the way.

Enjoy an afternoon of art making in the San Angelo Art Museum's Education Studio! We always feature clay and watercolor, and every three weeks there are two new art projects to try. Visitors are welcome to drop in anytime between 3 and 6. Please allow at least 30 minutes to try all projects.

Chamber Music Concert at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts

SAN ANGELO CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES features concerts by outstanding musicians from across Texas and the United States and regularly draws patrons from every segment of the community with both traditional chamber musicians and more broadly based contemporary or ethnic music groups. Several local caterers and restaurants will provide refreshments for the concerts. Ensembles perform in an intimate and acoustically wonderful space with all concerts starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Art Museum.

Events will include classroom instruction, field instruction, combat horsemanship, and competition in jumping, pistol, and saber. The course and regulations will be the same as those in effect for the USCA annual event held at Fort Reno, OK. SAMFA Art Thursday

Enjoy an afternoon of art making in the San Angelo Art Museum's Education Studio! We always feature clay and watercolor, and every three weeks there are two new art projects to try. Visitors are welcome to drop in anytime between 3 and 6. Please allow at least 30 minutes to try all projects.

Fort Concho Frontier Day

07:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Come and celebrate the region's agricultural and ranching heritage with special displays, exhibits, living history, Lions Club Pancake Breakfast, 1800s Base Ball, booths for vendors and children's activities. Plus, all main fort buildings will be open. There is no charge for this half-day event beyond the fee for the pancake breakfast ($5.00).  7:00 am - 12:00 Noon
