San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts

Located near the heart of downtown San Angelo and overlooking the beautiful Concho River, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts has three spacious galleries two with dramatic 40-foot ceilings and there is also a large rooftop sculpture terrace with a beautiful view of the city. We have a gift shop with unique items and works of art created by regional artists and craftspeople.

Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 11 am - 4 pm
              Sunday 1 pm - 4 pm

Closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day

Fort Concho National Historic Landmark

Established in 1867, along the banks of the Concho River, Fort Concho was built to protect frontier settlements, patrol and map the vast West Texas region, and quell hostile threats in the area. The old frontier army post is now a historic preservation project and museum which is owned and operated by the City of San Angelo, Texas.

Hours: Monday - Saturday 9 am to 5 pm
              Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm
              Guided Tours Available

Yarn Junkies- Knitting Class

All classes are $10. Bring your current project. If you are a beginner, bring what you would like to work on. They have scrap yarn for beginners to learn from. Call in advance to make sure class has not been cancelled.

Farmers Market

The Farmers Market Pavilion is an open-air pavilion that sits at 609 S. Oakes St. between El Paseo de Santa Angela and Fort Concho. Open on every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday until the first freeze. Vendors sell homegrown veggies, fruits, plants, herbs, honey and nuts from the early spring through the early fall. A few vendors also sell meat and homemade items.

Love Municipal Pool

Love Municipal Pool summer season opens June 1.

Open noon - 6 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays through Labor Day. The pool is closed on Mondays for maintenance, excluding Memorial Day and Labor Day. Admission is $5 per person for ages 3-64, $3 for ages 65 and older, free for ages 2 and younger.

Fort Concho - 155th Anniversary of Buffalo Soldier Heritage Day

05:30 PM - 07:30 PM

Fort Concho will celebrate the National Day of the Cowboy on Saturday, July 24, starting at 9 a.m. at the American Plains Artists summer show at Barracks 6 off Henry O’ Flipper Street on the fort’s northeast corner. Coffee, juice, fruit and breakfast pastries will be available. The day’s program is free to all. 

At 9:30 a.m., Angelo State University’s Devon Stewart, who has a doctorate in art history, will provide a short tour and briefing of this year’s show. The Concho Cowboy Company will follow at 10 a.m. with a performance of one of their award winning skits in the barracks 5 & 6 courtyard.   

The western art show will stay open until 4 p.m. that day and will remain at Fort Concho until Sunday, Aug. 1. All art is available for sale, benefiting the artists and Fort Concho.  

National Day of the Cowboy is celebrated across America to mark the contributions of the western figure to our national culture.

Art Thursdays TO GO

The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts is happy to Introduce Art Thursday...TO-GO! Safely drive through the museum’s parking lot and pick up Art Thursday Packets To-Go. Two, printable activities and additional supplies will be included for FREE each Thursday* this summer from 3 – 6 pm, or until supplies run out. SAMFA staff will safely and hygienically hand packets to you from the safety of your car window. SAMFA Staff will also be wearing masks and gloves at all times, as well as follow social distancing guidelines in order to optimize the safety of Participants and Museum Staff.

River Stage - Wild West Fest
